Auditions for the Eau Gallie High School Jazz Bands will be held on April 21 & 22. Saxophones will audition on April 21, and students must play between 5:00 and 6:30 p.m. Brass auditions will take place on April 22; trombones will play between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m., and trumpets will play between 6:00 and 7:00 p.m. Please come to the Eau Gallie Bandroom and “sign in” with the room monitor; the room monitor will then direct you to enter the audition room and you will begin playing. These are “blind” auditions, so do not speak while you are in the audition room. Once you are done playing, you are free to leave. Audition results will be posted on the band web site at a later date. Rising 9th grade Bass and Piano auditions will be Friday, April 23rd at 8:30 a.m. in the Johnson Bandroom. All other (10th-12th grade) Bass and Piano auditions will be performed during class at EGHS. Drum set auditions will be performed during the regular percussion audition. Wind players and bass players should be prepared to play 12 major scales with a 2-minute time limit, and the TWO PLUS TWO etude WITH the recorded rhythm section track (we will provide a recording at the audition for you). Students auditioning for Jazz Band I should also play 3 choruses of improvised Bb blues with the recorded track from this web site. Sax players auditioning for Jazz Band I should be prepared to “double” by playing the Bb, Eb, and Ab concert scales two octaves on clarinet or flute.
